Introduction

Welcome

This web site is dedicated to my scholarship. I hope that you will enjoy this site as i enjoyed to build it.

So many questions appear when you have decided to build a site dedicated to Archaeology and Geography. Finaly, the main question is : How to do a approch of these sciences thru a web site ? I hope that I reach the goal with the pages. But if you think that we can change some parts, e-mail me.

However, before to go further, I would like to answer to some questions, simple but important questions. What are Archaeology and Geography ? Why building a site for these sciences ? What is the interest of this kind of site for my research ?

What are Archaeology and Geography ?

Many books explain what are these sciences, most of the time separetly. I will here just describe the main characteristics of them.

Archaeology would like to produce a knowledge on the past, cultural knowledge as natural knowledge. Here will appear the problem of the reality of the datas which come mostly from the ground. I mean, is the data I dug up only a artefact but also a clue for the knowledge of the past ? Do I have the right to use it as a real indicator of the past or just a artefact ?

Geography is not only to learn the differents states and to locate where are the rivers, but this science is dedicated to the study of the relations between the Earth and the humans, but also between the natural elements together and between humans. That seems to be a hard work.

So, as you can see, Archaeology and Geography are not far. One colleague told me one day: the new Archaeology is going to push away Geography... My own point of view is that Geography and Archaeology are working together and I cannot find any difference between these two sciences.

Why building a site for these sciences ?

The network seems to me as the perfect way to show to people what are my studies. Because most of time, when I have a talk with some of my friends , they just don't understand why I spend my time on that kind of research. They just say: "it is not productive".

What is the interest of this kind of site for my research ?

As student, I am doing some researches that only some professors will read, and one old library will stock under a huge screen of dust. I would like to share my knowledge and a website is the best way to do it. So don't hesite, e-mail me. Because it's from the discussion that the knowledge will born.

So now, let go into my own way to deal with Geography and Archaeology.
